[email] [print]  Rudolf's 3D Using DMA

May 29, 2005 20:27 UTC, by Kian Duffy, Senior Journalist.
From the teapots-spinning-too-damn-fast department...

Rudolf just sent me an email (and updated his blog with news that he has his 3D driver now using DMA transfers on TNT cards - but not yet on the GeForce series.

The driver now uses DMA adressing, AGP transfers if available, and MTRR's to provide far higher speeds. GLTeapot speeds of 360FPS can now be attained, with Quake II exceeding film framerates in the timedemos.

This now allows use the entire driver package in DMA mode, allowing users of the 3D accelerant to keep the huge 2D speed boosts enjoyed with DMA mode enabled.
