Euan Kirkhope, the first person to get BeOS's Radeon driver to work on an R300-engined Radeon a few years ago, has started providing a patched driver, which enables Radeon X800 users to use their cards.
Linked to in the
driver talkback, the driver supports the X800 and its new BIOS timings, and disables invert rectangle acceleration due to crashing bug on Zeta. As a result, the driver will be slower on Radeon 9800 and older cards than the original Radeon driver, which already supports them. However, it is an important improvement for those who have X800's and can now get 32 bit colour, overlay, hardware cursors, and all the other goodies that an accelerated driver offers over VESA modes.
