[email] [print]  Haiku: Updates All Round

Feb 17, 2006 22:45 UTC, by Kian Duffy, Senior Journalist.
From the many-confusing-updates department...

With development continuing as fast as ever, its no surprise that Haiku news stories are appearing thick and fast.

Firstly, another editorial based newsletter is now available, showing that the new "freestyle" format is working. From Michael Phipps, it covers the reasons he thinks Haiku is still relevant today. Additionally, the Haiku forums, (which we reported were offline), are now back again.

News on the driver front comes from Jerome Duval, who has news of a USB Midi-in driver (requires the Dano or higher USB stack) available for testing; and from Rudolf Cornelissen's new blog, which covers his graphics driver development work, including work on multi-head support, and general speed and rendering improvements on his hardware 3D driver for nVidia cards.

And as a final note, the Haiku 100 Bugs that we reported on around two weeks ago has now become 200 - 202 at last check. 85 are marked "open", meaning that over half of all user-reported issues have been fixed. The volume of reports shows that many people are now able to test Haiku on their systems and find these bugs.
