I was going to try something witty with the title, and try to squeeze in "nVidia 3D: back on Mesa 3.4.2" in some meaningful way, or make it like one of those new movie introductions with the two guitars, the two cowboys, and a burning love...
Wait. Wrong website for that.
I digress. You want to know about Rudolf's recent work, don't ya. He's been busy, let me tell you. Now, so as not to further confuse you poor readers, I have to clarify that this newspiece is about Rudolf's work on the
nVidia TNT/GF 3D driver, not to be mistaken for the
Haiku nVidia TNT/GF driver intended for (you guessed it) Haiku.
You see, it is like this. Rudolf is such a coding maniac that he doesn't just focus on one project... No no. He likes to stretch his wings and fly around like those fast hummingbirds you see on the Discovery Channel, touching various sub-projects with his magic as he goes. Updates happen. Code grows. Drivers get released. The man is a genius.
So what's coming for alpha 4? From Rudolf's
blog entry we find he has reverted back to his upgrade to using MESA 3.4.2, which is in my opinion a very good thing as it brings using that library
one step further towards using the latest revision. See what I mean by visiting
Mesa News and note how many revisions there have been.
On another note Rudolf has been doing some speed testing, which is always a good thing, and thinking heavily about the framework of the driver, whether to add triple buffering, how to use resizable buffers for viewports, and if adding swap support is a consideration. You'll just have to read his latest blog entry to learn the nity gritty details.
