Haiku media kit lead Marcus Overhagen is going to import his DVB work to Haiku. The software, which was initially going to be commercial and for R5 only has been shown to work on Haiku in the past. It appears however that it will be modified to use Haiku's own media decoders - the R5 version of it provided media addons for MPEG2 video and MPEG1 Layer 2 audio, which were unsupported in R5.

The code consists of a DVB framework and a driver for the Hauppuage cards Marcus has, as well as a digital TV viewer. A third party has previously provided a driver for the SkyStar 2 digital satellite card, and in theory, any other DVB cards could have drivers written with significantly reduced effort.
