Doug "tigerdog" Shelton, BeOS Firefox builder extraordinaire has
managed to get a working build of
Cairo, the vector graphics library upon which new versions of Mozilla Firefox are going to rely for rendering. Trunk builds of Firefox had been impossible for some time since the move to requiring Cairo - it was previously optional, used for supporting the CANVAS tag and SVG, and was excluded from BeOS builds. However, the
build is still broken due to other factors, so it could still be a while before bleeding-edge builds return.
The BeOS port of Firefox is up to the current stable 2.0.0.3, however, and this can be
downloaded from BeBits. This version doesn't suffer (or doesn't suffer as badly - views differ) from the SSL-related hangs that affected earlier versions.
