BeOS Community Nominations
This year will mark the first in a (long running, hopefully ;) series of nominations for outstanding and most-helpful members of the BeOS Community who deserve the recognition of their peers, and everyone else who has come to think of themselves as being part of the Community too.

If you have someone in mind who deserves the prestigous honor of BeOS Valuable Person™, then please, send your nomination to: submissions@beosjournal.org and it will be added for review.

We will be accepting nominations up to, and including the date of: December 15th, 2001, so as to provide time for your entries, and to provude us time to tally up the results.

The final, winning nomination will be chosen by having the most votes from all of the submissions involved, and be announced here at The BeOS Journal, on, and not before the date of: January 1st, 2002.

The BeOS Valuable Person award will entitle the winning person the following:
  • a personal webpage on The BeOS Journal, to do with as they please, with 50 megs of space, 5 emails, and no traffic limitations, as long as it is BeOS related.
  • their "name in lights" for one year as the BeOS Valuable Person, to be advertised on The BeOS Journal front page, and linked to their personal webpage.
  • oodles and oodles of adulation from adoring fans. ;) No, seriously... they will be recognized as being a very valuable member of the community, so that new members to BeOS may know who to consult when they need help.
In the case of a tie, the tied, winning nominees will be presented on The BeOS Journal, and a special one-day vote will be held on January 1st, 2002 until and including January 2nd, 2002, after which the final winner will be announced.

Good luck to everyone!

The BeOS Journal Updates Are Coming
The BeOS Journal website will be undergoing some minor cosmetic changes as it evolves into a more full blown Community Portal, as well as a completely rewritten backend including the use of php and mysql for "to be announced" services.

If you have suggestions, or comments about what you would like to see change, or have great ideas, please send them to: submissions@beosjournal.org and we will review them, and quite possibly implement them. ;)

Some of the planned features we will be working on are: User Forums, a more robust Hardware Matrix / Price Guide, which will merge with the Frizbe.net Hardware Matrix, a BeOS Community Calendar, a MyJournal series of user pages which you will "own", and many more to be announced. ;)

We are also in the midst of changing/moving to a completely new server, and new operating system running on it. Currently, we are running the .net website on an older Macintosh, and the .org is on our new testbed server, running under OS/2. The .net is our main version of the site at this time, with both to be running under OS/2 soon.

Again, if you have ideas, please let us know.

Thank you!

Newbe.org To Continue
You heard it right... the website NewBe.org will be back online fairly shortly. We at The BeOS Journal felt it was a shame for it to be hacked, and gladly stepped up to the plate to offer our hosting services for free. As a result, the website will be hosted and online fairly soon, just as soon as the DNS changes take effect.

Beshare Tourney Champion 2001, Fall Division, Announced
This years BeShare Tourney Champion is none other than the newcomer, Jace.. All Hail Jace! ;)

Read the chatlog of the Fall Division Fight, and do not forget to read the Spring Division chatlog too. A picture of the Spring Champion is here.

** update (26-oct-2003) **
The email address was changed to reflect the domain changes, for historical reasons. Sadly, no one nominated anyone for most valuable person... sigh. ;)
