[email] [print]  Some Questions Answered By Robert Szeleney.

Jan 25, 2004 19:17 UTC, by Chris Simmons, Senior Journalist.
From the add-on department...

As promised earlier, here are the questions and answers by Robert Szeleney of SkyOS, regarding SkyFS and OpenBFS.

"Can you provide some answers to the compatibility question, such as mounting OpenBFS partitions from SkyOS, and vice-versa?

If SkyFS will ever by incompatible with OpenBFS then there will be a SkyFS and BFS driver. So I will try to keep OpenBeOS/BeOS compatiblity as much as possible.

It's already possible to mount/read/write/create/delete files on BeOS partitions. Also mounting beos images (e.g. the free downloadable BeOS image) is possible.

The changes you will be making to OpenBFS (to be named SkyFS), will they be backported to the OpenBFS project?

I will give any changes back. E.g. I'm going to implement a GRUB/BFS driver. As soon as this is finished I will send the changes to the OpenBeOS them.

Also, all bugs or performance bottlenecks I might discover will be reported.

How long have you been in contact with the OpenBFS team?
I hadn't any contact before starting the OpenBFS port, although I followed the OpenBeOS progress for a while already.

Robert."

Thanks Robert...
