[email] [print]  Orkut. Are You Invited?

Feb 12, 2004 17:24 UTC, by Chris Simmons, Senior Journalist.
From the namespace department...

I know... It's been really quiet lately. :)

There are three reasons why I've been quiet:

- I haven't come across any stellar BeOS news lately.
- I've been busy coding and involved with OpenBeOS, quiet-like.
- I've been checking out Orkut.com, Google's new toy.

It's this last reason why I post this news item.

Orkut is a global community of friends who can create communities, message, and email each other for free. There is a catch though.. It's invite only, and you must be willing to share quite a bit of personal information while you sign up.

But that shouldn't be a problem for members of the famed BeOS Community, eh? So here is what I am willing to do for you.

If you want to join Orkut, email me directly and I will invite you. In return, I want a small favor from you. I want you to invite someone else, and both of you to join the BeOS Community "Community" once logged in. You'll see it if you check my profile on Orkut, under the "Communities" section.

Orkut is pretty cool so far, despite some complaints from various Bloggers. Let's go about using this free tool to our advantage and help promote BeOS at the same time, ok? The more people, the more exposure, the more chance we all have of placing BeOS into the mainstream.

Good luck, and I'll see you on Orkut.
