John "Zaranthos" Slevin has been a busy beaver lately... He's managed to not only compile the
Player vs. Player Gaming Network (PvPGN) project on the BeOS, but keep it fairly updated as well.
After initially
posting PvPGN to BeBits on February 15th, John updated the bebits entry today, keeping it in lockstep with the main project.
I managed to hunt down John in BeShare (hi john!) and asked him why the project is important to fellow BeOS users...
"(645) Zaranthos/Dual_P3: Technix: Well with it BeOS can be a server for StarCraft, BroodWar, Diablo, WarCraft II BNE, and WarCraft 3 game.
(645) Zaranthos/Dual_P3: game/games.
(645) Zaranthos/Dual_P3: Just like Blizzards Battle.net only better :)
(645) Zaranthos/Dual_P3: Lan players can play with internet players.
(645) Zaranthos/Dual_P3: Places that lag on Battle.net can run it to eliminate lag."
There you have it. Straight from the BeShare icon himself.
If you have a question about PvPGN, why not
email John directly? Better yet, hop onto
BeShare and ask John directly. He's always willing and able to talk about his development with fellow BeOS users.
Till next time, good hunting.
**update**
John just let me know this:
"(645) Zaranthos/Dual_P3: Technix: Just got an email from one of the developers. The changes required to build it in BeOS have been commited to the 1.7 CVS branch and will probably be added to the 1.6.1 branch as well. My diff was exactly the same as mmu_mans but they never applied his."
