[email] [print]  New Digs, New Name, New Look.

Aug 13, 2004 07:43 UTC, by Chris Simmons, Senior Journalist.
From the vitamin-c department...

Well, its friday the 13th, a supposedly unlucky day by all mythological accounts, and here we are, new server online, ready to roll... :)

I would like to welcome you to the new home of Haiku News, formally known as The BeOSJournal. Our hosting is provided by Adam McNutt, a long-time member of our community who will also be hosting related websites to be announced later.

Some of you who visit BeShare will know about some of the troubles we have had during the past week in getting things just so, and despite the long hours involved, there are still a number of small issues to deal with, so please be patient as we work through them.

The forum is fully operational, and contains all of the postings up till we went offline, with no missing items, as far as I can tell. There will be an updated Gallery soon, so please be aware that this section is not operational as of yet.

All of the previous news stories from TBJ can be found in our Archive, for posterity reasons. Feel free to use the search engine if you feel nostalgic.

As for the rather shocking change of color... Feedback is running about 90% positive, but we have a surprise in store for those nay-sayers who dislike Orange, and miss the old blue theme... We are working on allowing you to use your forum login to choose custom colors and theme/layout if you so desire. Yes, that is right, you will be able to trick out Haiku News any way that you see fit. That goes for the forum and all other sections as well.

Those of you who had subdomains from before, please contact us and we will resume/recreate your subdomain as required. Vanity subdomains are available to anyone who has a Haiku/BeOS related project; please email for further details.

Finally, we have some staffing news to be announced soon. Since it is early friday as I write this, look for more information by this weekend.

So, there you have it. We welcome you to our new home, and hope that you will enjoy it for many years to come.

Sincerely,

Chris Simmons,
Adam McNutt.
