Guillaume Maillard points out in a
recent post to the
OpenBeOS mailing list that the
B.E.OS project is not dead after all.
It turns out Michael Oliveira, webmaster for the project website, jumped to conclusions after seeing how long the site was offline. (apparently due to technical issues.)
Guillaume had this to say:
- our website is down and I don't know when I will be able to reopen it, due to host issues.
- my free time is closed to 5H a week
- Zeta is, for me, a more important priority at short terms than BlueEyedOS
- we spoke about releasing the source code of the project under LGPL and were waiting for a public cvs host, we now have it. I need time to clean and comment it.
- my last activities on the projet are about the OpenTracker, it's a real stress test for our code! Let's hope it will be usable soon.
My Take: I personally wish that the B.E.OS project
was dead, if only to bring all the resources, talent, accomplishments and hard work done on it over to the Haiku project. I respect Guillaume's tenacity and talents, but really, I am of the opinion that Haiku would benefit greater with him directly involved, rather than with this spin-off project. Just my .02 cents. :)
