Driver guru Rudolf Cornelissen has added a weblog to his site for his work on getting 3D acceleration to BeOS for the nVidia range of graphics cards.

His most recent update outlines what work he will need to do to get 3D acceleration for these cards. Little to no spec sheets are available, and XFree86/X.Org have no current DRI implementations of nVidia 3D that is publically available. Rudolf will be relying on his own knowledge of the cards, and some information available from the now obsolete UtahGLX accelerating drivers for nVidia cards.

He is currently working on getting the 3D supported under MESA 3.2 on BeOS R4.5, the last version to support MESA 3.2. If this is successful, he will port his work to the MESA 6.2 port for BeOS R5, which is the core of Haiku's 3D Kit.
