Checked
BeBits today, and noticed there's a raft of new and updated applications just screaming for downloadin' trigger fingers.
First up is
FreePOPs 0.0.26, a local POP daemon that accepts
LUA based commands to retrieve remote mail, and even news, with the help of plugins. I'm barely scratching the surface of what this little baby can do, I'm sure. This new update brings Yahoo support to the mix.
A new version of
Army Knife 3.999 (beta) uses
TagLib for ID3v2, OGG and FLAC support. If there are no showstopper bugs, Jonas plans to release version 4.0 of Army Knife soon.
No operating system would be complete without some FreeCell type app, so I bring your attention to an updated
Bolitaire 0.62a, originally a DOS clone, also ported to Linux, Windows, and soon to Mac OS X. (ported
to Windows? hehe... -ed)
Beeh! Player (version alpha) is a graphical front-end for the
MPlayer port introduced last year hy
Mictlantecuhtli. This neato GUI will allow one to control MPlayer as naturally as one does for VLC, or any regular media player. Props to Remi from BeOSFrance for his uber testing abilities. :)
Last, but certainly not least, is
MiniCD 1.0, an icon/panel for the Deskbar. Further testing is needed, so please give Jonas some feedback, mmkay?
That about wraps it up. There's always a lot of activity over at BeBits on any given day of the week, so make sure to head over there as often as your curiousity begs you to, and check out what could be a diamond in the rough.
If you're a budding developer that wishes to release an app that will someday make its way to this front page for world-wide exposure, and instant fame, be sure to slip us a fifty when nobody is looking... :)
No, but seriously. There's a lot of dedicated people out there who have either an idea, or an itch they just gotta scratch, so as a result our entire community benefits from their hard work. Drop by BeShare, get signed up the mailing lists, and hey, email us from time to time with any questions you may have, we'll be sure to make it into an article or two if warranted.
Till next time, take care, and keep those keyboards revvin'.
