Rudolf has today released
alpha 3 of his nVidia 3D accelerant to BeBits. This version moves to MESA 3.4.2, which while still only OpenGL 1.2 compliant is significantly more OpenGL 1.2 compliant than before. This version also has some speedups for faster CPU's, although coupled by some slowdowns on lower-end hardware. No new hardware is supported yet, but handling unsupported cards has been improved so that a segment fault occurs rather than an unexplained system "hang".
Some updated benchmark speeds are over at his
3D somewhat-blog. There he announces that his next move is to bring the driver to MESA 6.2 - which is OpenGL 1.5 compliant, and at least in software only mode, somewhat faster than earlier MESA releases.
