In the two days since
Quake III became available for BeOS, a lot of other Quake-related news has surfaced. The BONE-only status of the Quake III port was
resolved by John Drinkwater and a patch supplied;
sound and input fixes were made by Michael Lotz, bringing the sound closer to normal, allowing keyboard input at the in-game terminal and he also provided
joystick and gamepad support.
Additionally, the venerable Quake (original) has also seen some work. Confusingly also hosted on the Quake III page at BeBits, an updated version of
GLQuake is available, which has a number of fixes. The updated version is the work of Frederick Modeen and Rudolf Cornelissen, and it likely requires Rudolf's accelerated 3D drivers to run at an acceptable speed (the original
aiXplosive port is available for those without accelerated drivers).
A
Trac system has been set up by tic (Mikael Jansson) for both the Quake I and III ports, and currently features a wiki, some screenshots and bug reporting/tracking system.
