In two vaguely related stories which I'm going to attempt a transition between, a MIDI-enabled version of the
emuxki driver, which covers Creative SB Live! and some Creative Audigy-series cards has been posted on the
drivers talkback by Cyan. This version of the driver also has lower buffers, which in themselves only create 1.3ms of latency, as well as modifications to allow the buffer size drop as low as it is without crackling. And while you're using a MIDI app, you may be interested to know that you'll be able to use drag and drop under Haiku with it, thanks to
Michael Lotz's changes (damn, that transition went badly... you could do the d'n'd under R5 already btw...).
A number of issues with Haiku such as icons "sticking" to the mouse and not being able to do many standard file operations without the Terminal should now be rectified, and the Haiku desktop experience moving one stage closer towards matching that of BeOS.
