[email] [print]  Vision, Opera, Beam Running Under Haiku

May 08, 2006 21:56 UTC, by Kian Duffy, Senior Journalist.
From the 3-browsers-and-half-a-netstack department...

John Drinkwater's Haiku flickr collection has been updated again, showing Opera for BeOS (still stuck at the 1999-era Version 3, thank you very much Opera...); Beam, the open-source email client; and Vision, the equally open-source IRC client all running under Haiku. Both Beam and Opera show some odd rendering or menu bugs, however Vision appears to operate normally.

With a number of stability and compatibility fixes in recent weeks, Haiku is slowly gaining the ability to run more and more R5 applications and stay up long enough for these to be of some use. A number of large apps, both native and ports, now run either exactly as they did on R5 or with only minor issues, including Firefox, the VideoLAN Media Player, Wonderbrush and Quake III.
