Michael Lotz has posted to his blog about the status of USB on Haiku. Michael, who took over working on the USB stack from Niels Reedijk, has got it to the stage where he can now use his USB mouse under Haiku, albeit only temporarily before memory leaks take it down. He states the core stack is around 80% completed, with the UHCI driver around 75% of the way - lacking support only for isochronous transfers.

The code is, as yet, not checked in, because Michael is moving house and has not had his phone line reconnected yet, but it should be available soon enough. He's stated his plans to finish UHCI support before moving on to OHCI and EHCI (USB 2.0) support.

In other news, the new network stack branch has now been merged fully in to Haiku, meaning that default images will now have the new stack. Recent work on the stack has covered fixing IPv4, but of more interest has been work on some basic BSD compatibility as well as the integration of ncurses, allowing Haiku to run the BSD ftp client - although actually using it will require TCP to be supported.
