[email] [print]  BeUnited Project Migration: Call for Developers

Feb 26, 2007 21:51 UTC, by Kian Duffy, Senior Journalist.
From the resurrection-land department...

Following the closure of BeUnited, former BU head honcho Donovan "Deej" Schulteis is planning to provide SVN hosting for any homeless projects over at BeGroovy. Over the years, a number of projects were donated to BeUnited for hosting, some of which moved on to greater things (Pe, which is now hosted on Berlios and still undergoing active development), but many have festered, or never got anywhere before (my own name appearing on the developers list for this reason...). As a result, Donovan is calling for the named project leaders of all hosted projects to get in contact to let him know if there is alternative hosting already provided for a project. If not, it will be migrated to BeGroovy.

His posting to the Haiku mailing list has details of all the projects on the developers portal, some of which don't even have SVN. They include such forgotten apps as BeLive (a video editor) and ScannerBe (an early attempt at providing a standardised scanner API for BeOS) as well as well-known apps like ProcessController, Pe, ArtPaint ArmyKnife and APlayer.

It goes without saying that new lead developers, or any developers in fact, would be welcomed for those projects which are abandoned by the named project leaders.
