From the give-and-take department...

Just a handful of quickies today, couldn't think of a good headline to cover it all. ;)

Rudolf has once again updated his development page about the nVidia driver he is working on. He indicates that 2D acceleration is coming soon, and he's had great fun tracking down some serious bugs in some of the graphics cards he's been donated. It looks like the kind donations from the BeOS Community are paying off in earnest now!

Some of you have emailed us asking why the TBJ Donation fund hasn't been updated in a while. We're waiting for Ted "Zathros" Leeuwesteijn to return from vacation so he can let us know how much is in the PayPal account, before we update it. Ted handles the paypal account for us, and thus far has proved indespensible in helping TBJ purchase much needed hardware, and other site related needs. Thanx Ted! You're a good man.

Speaking of Ted, I'd like to let the community know that he's in far better health than this time last year, but is still on (at last communique) the waiting list for getting the treatment he needs. He wanted to let everyone know that he's improving, slowly, but steadily, and wishes everyone a big thank you in return for the cards and letters he received.

I spoke with Thomas recently, and he emailed me about his driver fund. He is quite pleased that people have stepped forward to help raise funds in purchasing a nice new Radeon card. We're pretty sure he's as enthusiastic as Rudolf is coding-wise and his desire to see things working on that line of graphcis cards will no doubt prove fruitful. We're keep you informed as to when Thomas gets a new card.

And now a couple of requests.

We're still not sure if every Be User Group has stepped forward and given their info to us, so we're asking again. We need the following:

  • BUG Name
  • Location
  • # of Members
  • Operating Since Date
  • Website & Email

The deadline for submissions will be August 24th, at which time we'll post a small article with the list of Be User Groups around the world.

I think it would be great to see a return to the days when showing off BeOS to the public was a monthly event. If there are large BUG's who have the resources to hold a demo day, please let us know, and we'll help spread the good word.
