[email] [print]  AbiWord Coder Needed. To Keep It Alive.

From the start coding department...

This was pointed out to me by Konrad. On AbiWord Weekly News issue #142 a call (and warning) goes out to the BeOS developers. It reads, and i quote

"BeOS developers interested in the continuation of Abiword for you platform, take note. If, by the release of AbiWord II: The Wrath of Dom, no further development has taken place on the BeOS port, it will most likely be discontinued. It is not to say that we expect anyone to actually manage to bring it up to 2.0 in time, but we do expect a sincere commitment to it by that time, or it'll be taken from the development tree."

So there you have it... code or it gets discontinued. Though it's strange, because about 5 weeks ago, on issue #139 they announced that a patch for BeOS had been commited by Gery Deloge. But it's their decision.

So that is where we stand. Anyone out there willing to give Gery a hand and start commiting? I know many of you out there enjoy AbiWord and use it, so why not give a hand (or two) so it will be still available (and updated) for BeOS? Go for it! I look forward to reading about it on AbiWord's next Weekly News.
