Good morning folks, everyone slept well? Good. Now, on with the news. Mr. App_server, aka DarkWyrm has once again updated his
site with more progress that his done since the last update, and surprisingly enough, he has been coding, though with extreme care. Here's what he said:
"I have, amazingly enough, been able to write code for a little while, but I'm taking it *very* easy. As I promised to Nathan Whitehorn (of Glass Elevator fame), I have an RFC for the proposed packaging system for OpenBeOS. Technically, it's for R2, but realistically, almost all of it can be easily done for BeOS R5. The PDF specs can be found here. Additionally, I have a number of utilities for people to play with also on this site now - all the utilities mentioned in the specs except for AppManager. I've been toying with the AppManager program, and assuming everything works out ok, should put the other installers for BeOS to shame for ease of use and flexibility. The utilities can be had here."
Those of you who read the mailing lists already knew of his proposal (which looks really good) for a new packaging system, but now you also have something to play with, other than the usual... So go grab that zip file and have fun!
