Just saw this over at LeBuzz.com, that Dane Scott is starting a campaign to complete SampleStudio, with the help of the BeOS Community.

I'd like to place my support behind his efforts, and ask as well from the members of the BeOS Community who have time to spare to think about helping to finish SampleStudio.

The most important area in need of help is obviously programming with the media kit, as well as knowledge of the interface kit. Helpful ideas, graphic design, conceptual discussion and even word-of-mouth activity will go a long way towards seeing this project be realized to its fullest potential.

Seeing as the forums here are down, I would suggest using the mailing lists (BeUserTalk), the comment box for the story at LeBuzz, TheGreenBoard, the forum at IsComputerOn and of course logging into BeShare. Pick one, or visit any and all of these choices. The more people that can get involved in helping push this idea into the forefront (temporarily), the sooner this project will get done.

My opinion here is that this project is large enough to require help, but small enough if enough people join it now to push it quickly towards completion. There are a ton of competant programmers out there who are itching for something to do, but either can't work on the (massive) openBeOS project yet, or just want to get their feet wet only a little bit. ;)

Here's your chance. From the looks of it, SampleStudio appears already well founded, it just needs more push to reach through the critical 90% phase.

beunited.org is currently hosting the SampleStudio code in their CVS. Take a look through, download and compile and see how it looks. There is also a different version in binary form on BeBits here.
