beunited.org has released the latest in their line of Newsletters, the January 2004 edition, to their 681 registered members. This latest publication packs quite a wallop, filled with announcements, news, projects, and a calendar, to give just a taste of whats in store for your reading pleasure.
Among the more interesting items is the announcement that the long-developed BeScanner project has been donated to beunited.org in the hopes that potential developers from the community will step forward to help. Jim Moy was the originator of the project, and says, "If someone were interested in owning it and taking it forward, I'd be willing to release ScannerBe under the GPL or something else appropriate."
Also mentioned in the newsletter is the fact that Axel Dorfler, of OpenBeOS and OpenTracker fame, has offered to lead development on a locale kit for OpenBeOS, with the help of Ingo Weinhold and others.
