[email] [print]  RDP Client Making Progress

From the tele-sensory department...

François Revol, better known as "mmu_man", has been busy with his RDP client for BeOS. What is RDP, you ask? I'll quote briefly from Microsoft's MSDN library:

The Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) provides remote display and input capabilities over network connections for Windows-based applications running on a server. RDP is designed to support different types of network topologies and multiple LAN protocols.

By allowing a connection to your Windows XP™ (or 2000) machine from BeOS, you don't have to perform a (slow) reboot to access those same few applications still not created in BeOS. François has now made it possible to connect to a Windows machine using BeOS, by launching his RDP client from your Terminal.

Plans are now in the works to use the GUI front-end from the BeRDP Project and add features enabling adjusting the various resolution and graphic parameters from the unified dialog, instead of relying solely on command line switches.

Here's a nice progression from a test concept to an almost, nearly finished implementation.

We will be keeping a close eye on this project, and let you know when it is ready for the public to try out. Good work François!
