From the so-close department...

According to the Matroska Official Homepage, support for the OpenBeOS Media Kit is one of the intended goals in the future development of the open source codec.

Unfortunately, I was not able to compile either version 0.7.2 or even an earlier one like 0.4.4. In the 0.7.2 tar/bz2 file there is no Makefile for BeOS, however there is one in the 0.4.4 zipfile.

I checked the site for helpful newbie instructions on how to compile, but was disappointed to not find any such documentation. A general compile guide or even a readme in the included distribution would be nice.

If you download and get it compiled succesfully, please let me know, and I'll report it as such here. This codec is an important asset to Haiku, and should provide sufficient incentive for both communities to work together.
