Pier Luigi Fiorini recently
announced to the internal
BeFree, Devel Mailing List that the first alpha version of a Virtual File System (
VFS) has been created for the project.
What is a VFS? As Pier puts it:
Well, a VFS is a virtual file system that let's you create your modules that handle different kind of file system using the same "protocol". The BeFree VFS is a little different, it is completely written in plain C and it's user-space.
Nice to see some major progress with this project. BeFree uses a lot of the ideas from Haiku/OpenBeOS/BeOS, including the use of a modified
OpenTracker as the basis for the user interface known as
Neptune.
