[email] [print]  Forum Compromised.

Dec 21, 2004 06:36 UTC, by Chris Simmons, Senior Journalist.
From the i-hate-spambots department...

At about 05:00 GMT our forum was compromised, and led to an intrusion that basically took it offline. Thanks to our webhost, this action was quickly stopped, and our forum was disabled as a result.

I've started working on installing the newest and latest version of phpBB, and I will inform you all when I've got things just right. This means also (mostly) all of the postings you've created over the years must be put back into place, after I go through the sql for any nasty sql injection code potentially left behind by the attackers.

It truly sucks. I'm appalled that our site would be a target for such stupidity and ignorance as spamming defacement, but there ya go. It takes all kinds in this world, I guess.

We'll let you know when everything is back to normal. Until then, I thank you for your patience, and encourage your feedback.

Wanted to also inform that BeGroovy is experiencing the same issue, and they are working on their forum as well, as I write this. Deej and Couger let me know via BeShare that they couldn't log in even, to post, so asked me to pass it on here.
