Improvements Since ZETA RC1

  • The startup bootscreen is well done.
  • The RealTek 8139-based network card is now natively supported.
  • CUPS has been ported, allowing ZETA to support hundreds of printer models.
  • USB support has improved slightly, even recognizing certain DRM type thumbdrives that lock their data.
  • The Media Kit no longer produces an ear-shattering squelch at boot time, despite it not working with my Audigy2.
  • ZETA does not default to using VESA mode for nVidia based graphics cards, instead relying on Rudolf Cornelissen's nVidia driver.
  • The Backgrounds add-on is now called correctly from both the keyboard shortcut and add-on submenu.
  • The number of add-ons has been reduced to a more logical and manageable amount.
  • The ZETA menu items have been renamed slightly, but could still use some tweaking.
  • The drawing delay for SVG icons throughout the system has been greatly reduced.
  • The reboot countdown timer now simply shows seconds before first boot.
  • FaxIt no longer is bound to the 'F' keyboard shortcut.
  • The Dockbert application has been removed.
  • The proper Zip-O-Matic is the only one installed.
