[email] [print]  Haiku Self-Hosting Inches Forward

Apr 24, 2008 02:40 UTC, by Chris Simmons, Senior Journalist.
From the libbe-just-let-it-be department...

I've been watching the to-and-fro conversation taking place on the Haiku Development Mailing List like an avid tennis fan, and I gotta say, its impressive!

Bruno "BGA" Albuquerque and Ingo Weinhold, among others, have been tracking down some of the remaining issues that occur when compiling Haiku inside itself. One of the long standing bugs (KDL during svn checkout in block notifier/writer), seems close to being squashed, but in my opinion, its really is a matter of pure hard work and devotion on the part of the Haiku Devs before it is closed. They may seem like miracle workers, but they put in an enormous amount of hours in order to achieve their goals.

Just wanted to bring this particular thread to light; I'm sure some people are aware of the mailing list(s), but there is the possibility newcomers (now and those in the future reading this archived article) would benefit from knowing about them too.

Cheers! Good work devs!
