PDF Report From PartyZip@ 2005 Jul 15, 2005 03:44 UTC, by Chris Simmons, Senior Journalist From the vegamite department... Axel reports on his trip to PartyZip@ 2005, where he presented Haiku in a 3 hour presentation. Two PDF documents (converted from the slides) consisting of an overview and highlights of the differences between Haiku and BeOS is available for download and makes nice reading. During his presentation Axel discussed the Kernel, the various Kits, BFS, and future goals for Haiku R1, namely: Binary compatible to BeOS R5Vast unit tests for less bugsEnhanced functionality and user experience Also worth noting is that Axel states every Kit is now at the important Alpha stage, albeit not every Kit is fully feature complete. Axel notes that the Networking Kit might go through drastic changes by switching to the current NetBSD stack. This has yet to be determined. In part two of the PDF set Axel illustrates the relationship of the User space, desktop, application server and display driver as well as going over the key differences between Haiku and BeOS R5. What are you waiting for? Go download, and enjoy a lengthy read. :)
