BePDF hits 1.0 - Alpha 1, anyway Jul 25, 2005 20:44 UTC, by Kian Duffy, Senior Journalist From the highly-cross-platform-documents department... BePDF the venerable, and sole, PDF viewer for BeOS has today had its 1.0 Alpha 1 released to BeBits. Originally developed by Hubert Figuière, and recently maintained mainly by Michael Pfeiffer, the most major improvement in the new release is the move from the long in the tooth xpdf 0.93 to xpdf 3.0 as the default PDF renderer. BePDF supports all PDF files up to PDF 1.5 - Acrobat 6 - including those which are password protected, and supports adding annotations, printing, and even BFS attributes on PDF files. The project is opensource, with its code at sourceforge.
