BeGeistert 015 Annoucement Aug 28, 2005 19:29 UTC, by Chris Simmons, Senior Journalist From the ironically-enough department... Charlie Clark let us know the full details of the upcoming 15th installment of our favorite meeting, BeGeistert... Here is the announcement that was emailed to us, which if you are signed up to the BeGeistert Info Service, you may have already received. If not, we recommend you sign up to keep informed before the next event. BeGeistert 015 - "The 15th Commandment" "A flute with no holes is not a flute. A hole without a flute in something completely different." John Cleese, "The Secret Policeman's Ball" With uncanny regularity we have managed to organise BeGeistert every six months and it's now time for the 15th installment. When: 8th - 9th October 2005. Where: Duisburg-Meiderich Youth Hostel. As the Düsseldorf Youth Hostel is being renovated for the next two years we've had to find alternative accommodation. Relocating is nothing new for BeGeistert and this will be the fifth venue for BeGeistert. Nevertheless choosing a new location is never easy. Taking into account accessibility, facilities and capacity we think that Youth Hostel in Duisburg-Meiderich is a good replacement for the Düsseldorf Youth Hostel which has been our home for the last five events. The Youth Hostel is located in the Duisburg-Nord Country Park on the grounds of an old steel works. Duisburg central station is just 10 minutes by tram (903/902 stop Emscherstrasse) plus a short walk. In addition there are plenty of car parking spaces. This BeGeistert, "The 15th Commandment", is dedicated more than ever to Haiku and ZETA. With ZETA R1 now available and Haiku making impressive progress recently there is no need for nostalgia for the old Be, Inc. days. Of course the developments and changes will provide plenty of discussion matter. Both yellowTAB and Haiku developers will present at BeGeistert 015, once again proving that a commercial OS can exist with an open source one. As always BeGeistert provides a unique opportunity for users to meet other users and developers. Developers benefit immensely from the feedback and ideas they get at BeGeistert. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again and welcoming those coming for the first time: at BeGeistert it's easy to make new friends. BeGeistert has always been an international event making its own contribution to improving international understanding. Visitors can expect presentations of the latest software and programming workshops. What presentations are on offer is entirly dependent upon the willingness of those attending to provide them. BeGeistert is a great place to learn how to give a presentation and we would encourage anyone working with ZETA or Haiku to think about giving one. The presentation timetable will not be available until the event itself and is subject to change. Your well-being and comfort is assured with breakfast and lunch at the Youth Hostel. In the evenings there is a selection of restaurants and take aways close by or the chance to go into Duisburg city centre. So make a note in your diary and register on our well maintained website. http://www.begeistert.org/ See you there! The BeGeistert-Orga Team Thanks team! Here's to hoping there will be another 15 more.
