YellowTAB Opens Their Source - Well, Some Sep 20, 2005 18:12 UTC, by Kian Duffy, Senior Journalist From the get-compiling! department... yellowTAB, makers of Zeta, have today released the source archives for many of the included applications and system libraries which are based on opensource code. While some of these are under the GNU GPL, and hence have a legal requirement to stay opensource, others, such as BIND are under the much more open BSD licence - which puts no such responsibilities on those who modify the code. Included in the list are the tarballs for the SVG rendering library in use by Zeta, the CUPS print system that forms the core of Zeta's improved printer support, and the SANE scanner library. The source of their version of MeTOS is also included. MeTOS is the only BeOS-native application in the listing, and is a RAD tool for GUI development. Providing source for some included tools is nothing new, with a "GNU tools" folder being present on every BeOS Professional CD. However, including diff's for BSD licenced software is something not often seen, and should be lauded. All are available to download from the downloads section of their site, which we covered previously.
