Multi-User Login App in the Works Apr 20, 2008 16:35 UTC, by Chris Simmons, Senior Journalist From the who-be-ye department... François mmu_man Revol of BeVnc fame, recently showed off his work on a multi-user login application for Haiku. I took a few moments to chat with François privately, to catch up on how he's been, what's he's doing next, that sorta thing. He has only been working on this app for a short time, as he previously wrote similar stuff for Zeta, however this new application makes use of the new Layout Engine, which itself is implemented using the Auckland Layout Model. I asked François what new features he was working on, and he replied thusly: The desktop should probably allow dropping pics also, maybe auto login. The shelf should probably make sure replicants come from root-owned apps though, else that opens a security hole :) I suppose Ingo has his view on it as well as he dumped my query based backend (but that was just for testing) :D Then I suppose we'll get tons of trac entries telling "foo" doesn't work when not run as root :D That's about all I can reveal at this time, but I'll bug him later for more tidbits. For now, we just have to be patient and await all of the various pieces to come together. Thanks François!
