Apps Roundup for June 22nd. Jun 22, 2004 16:24 UTC, by Chris Simmons, Senior Journalist From the go-round-go-vroom department... Its been a while since I did a BeBits apps roundup, but here goes. ;) Haiku Deskbar Logo A rather simple deskbar modification that replaces the BeOS image with a Haiku logo. According to the talkback, there should be an even nicer version coming shortly. netmonitorgraph A Deskbar replicant for Haiku that displays your network throughput levels. Originally coded by Nathan Whitehorn, this app makes that code graph the traffic using a replicant view. cars A simple car racing game for 4 players, which requires the SDL library that is available in LibPak. From the screenshot it sorta looks like a TRS-80 version of Death Rally. ;) Lots of potential fun in this app, to be sure. IRCServices This is a port of Andrew Church's IRC Services, which provide you with NickServ, ChanServ, and so forth for a variety of IRC Daemons. This port has been compiled for BONE and is current as of June 19th, 2004. Friss An RSS/RDF feed reader that can be embedded as a replicant. It works elegantly enough considering it is only at Beta 2, and the author is quite quick to react to bug reports in the talkback. Measure Displays a grid onscreen showing the Screen, Window or View co-ordinates as you manipulate with the arrow keys. Handy for application designers making fine-tune adjustments to their UI. I thought it would be nice to show once in a while all in one go the number of new applications coming to Haiku. At the time of this writing (including drivers, patches, etc), there have been 202 new entries to BeBits, if one goes by the entry URL ID. That works out to exactly 1.16 new entries per day (174 days, 202 entries, you do the math. ;), on average. Here's to another 222.72 new applications for the rest of the year!
